Knife Care
Our knives are made from premium materials that will stand the test of time for generations. That is under one condition: If they are looked after. Here are some knife care tips for a happy blade:
Cleaning & Maintenance
Most of our knives are made from non stainless steel that will rust if not taken care of. Do not leave your knife covered in food juices (especially acids). Clean it with a soft, non abrasive sponge and soapy water, wipe it dry and put away. That way it will not rust but develop a characteristic patina as it ages. Never ever put your knife in a dishwasher.
To maintain the water seal of your natural wooden handle, apply natural oil or wax occasionally. We recommend something like AXE WAX.
Honing & Sharpening
Hone your knife on a leather strop or better, use high quality whetstones. If the cutting edge feels dull, sharpening can be done with the same whetstones or precision knife sharpening systems such as KAZAK Pro or TSPROF. Our super steels are usually much harder than regular high carbon steel. For easier work, we recommend using diamond or boride abrasives.
Surfaces
Only use your knife on "softer" surfaces such as wood, plastic or composites like Richlite. Never cut on glass, stone, ceramic or marble. Avoid throwing it in a cutlery drawer with other hard objects. This will scratch the blade, the handle and dull the edge.
